    Comparison of GLCM and First Order Feature Extraction Methods for Classification of Mammogram Images

    Breast cancer is one of the main causes of death in women and ranks first in cancer cases in Indonesia. Therefore, an early detection and prevention of breast cancer is necessary, one of which is through mammography procedures. A machine learning classifier such as Support Vector Machines (SVM) could be used as an aid to the doctors and radiologist in diagnosing breast cancer from the mammogram images. The aim of this paper is to compare two feature extraction methods used in SVM, namely the Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) and first order with two kernels for each method, namely Gaussian and Polynomial. Classification using SVM method is carried out by testing several parameters such as the value of C, gamma, degree and varying the pixel spacing values ​​in GLCM, which usually in previous studies only used the default pixel spacing. The dataset consists of 500 mammogram images containing 250 benign and malignant images, respectively. This study is expected to find out the best method with the highest accuracy between these two texture feature extractions and and able to distinguish between benign and malignant classes correctly. The result achieved that Gray Level Co-Occurrence Matrix (GLCM) feature extraction method with both Gaussian and Polynomial kernel yields the best performance with an accuracy of 89%

    Combination of Coarse-Grained Procedure and Fractal Dimension for Epileptic EEG Classification

      Epilepsy, cured by some offered treatments such as medication, surgery, and dietary plan, is a neurological brain disorder due to disturbed nerve cell activity characterized by repeated seizures. Electroencephalographic (EEG) signal processing detects and classifies these seizures as one of the abnormality types in the brain within temporal and spectral content. The proposed method in this paper employed a combination of two feature extractions, namely coarse-grained and fractal dimension, a challenge to obtain a highly accurate procedure to evaluate and predict the epileptic EEG signal of normal, interictal, and seizure classes. The result of classification accuracy using variance fractal dimension (VFD) and quadratic support machine vector (SVM) with a number scale of 10 is 99% as the highest one, excellent performance of the predictive model in terms of the error rate. In addition, a higher scale number does not determine a higher accuracy in this study

    Beberapa cara pemotongan rumput taman saat ini masih menggunakan mesin pemotong yang mengharuskan berkontak fisik dan menguras tenaga manusia. Sebelumnya telah diciptakan mesin pemotong rumput yang dikendalikan menggunakan remote control, tapi masih bermasalah dengan jarak antara pengendali remote control-nya. Jarak maksimal antara remote control dengan alat kurang lebih sejauh 2m. Oleh sebab itu, dengan adanya perkembangan teknologi komunikasi tanpa kabel seperti Bluetooth, dan perangkat canggih yang simple seperti smartphone, pada tugas akhir ini dirancang suatu prototipe mesin pemotong rumput taman yang dikendalikan smartphone via Bluetooth. Prototipe ini menggunakan smartphone untuk mengendalikan dua buah motor pada roda bagian depan dan satu buah motor untuk pisau pemotong. Hasil dari tugas akhir ini adalah jarak koneksi Bluetooth dengan penghalang (pepohonan) kurang lebih 35 m, sedangkan tanpa penghalang kurang lebih 62m. Prototipe ini bergerak dengan kecepatan 6 meter per menit dengan hasil sisa potong rumput kurang lebih 1,5cm. Prototipe ini dapat menjadi solusi alternatif untuk memotong rumput taman

    Purwarupa Sistem Tracking Sungai Menggunakan Unmanned Aerial Vehicle

    AbstrakTelah dibuat purwarupa sistem tracking sungai menggunakan UAV. Sistem tracking sungai ini dibuat dengan memanfaatkan computer vision. Metode yang digunakan dalam sistem ini adalah dengan menggunakan metode moment, thresholding, dilasi. Sebelum dilakukan pengolahan citra, tahapan yang dilakukan adalah pengambilan video sungai. Pada pengolahan citra, video sungai yang akan diproses diambil selanjutnya dilakukan preprocessing citra, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan thresholding dan dilasi untuk mendeteksi warna sungai, dilanjutkan dengan metode moment untuk tracking sungai, dan yang terakhir menampilkan hasil dari tracking sungai. Pemrograman yang digunakan dalam pembuatan tracking sungai ini adalah OpenCV 2.3.1 dan menggunakan Visual Studio 2010. Bahasa pemrograman yang digunakan adalah bahasa C++.            Pengujian dilakukan menggunakan video sungai yang diambil secara langsung dan dari Youtube. Sungai yang digunakan memiliki rentang warna nilai HSV 50,3,15- 180,32,169 dan lingkungan sekitar sungai berupa vegetasi. Dari hasil pengujian tracking sungai, metode moment yang digunakan dapat memberikan hasil yang terbaik apabila hasil segmentasi warna sungai baik, dan sebaliknya untuk hasil kondisi yang buruk. Arah pengambilan video sungai berpengaruh terhadap hasil tracking sungai. Hal-hal yang berpengaruh terhadap keberhasilan metode ini antara lain lingkungan sungai, warna sungai, pencahayaan lingkungan, dan arah kamera. Hasil akhir dari sistem tracking sungai ini adalah koordinat posisi. Kata kunci— tracking sungai, pemrosesan video, moment, deteksi warna, openCV AbstractHave created a prototype of river tracking system using a UAV .The river tracking system created by using computer vision. The method used this system are moment method, thresholding, dilation. Prior to image processing, the steps being taken are making a river’s video. On image processing, river’s video to be processed captured image preprocessing is then performed, followed by thresholding and dilation to detect the color of the river, followed by a moment method for tracking the river, and the latter displays the results of tracking the river. Programming is used in this system are OpenCV 2.3.1 and using Visual Studio 2010. The programming language used is C++ language.Testing is done by using river’s video and taken directly from Youtube. River used has its HSV color values are in range 50,3,15 - 180,32,169) and the environment around the river in the form of vegetation. From the test results river tracking, moment method is used to give the best results when both rivers the color segmentation result, and contrary to the results of a bad condition. Camera direction for river’s video taking effect on the results of river tracking. The things that affect the success of this method include the river environment, river’s color, environmental lighting, and camera direction.     Latar Belakang. Tujuan pencantuman Peringatan Kesehatan Bergambar (PKB) pada bungkus rokok adalah mencegah remaja dari kebiasaan merokok. Dengan melihat gambar menakutkan pada PKB, remaja perokok juga diharapkan termotivasi berhenti merokok.Tujuan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana pesan persuasif yang berusaha memunculkan rasa takut berperan dalam proses penerimaan atau penolakan pesan pada siswa yang pernah mendapat intervensi program berhenti merokok bernama Not on Tobacco (NOT)  dengan yang belum pernah mendapatkannya. Metode. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan desain Rapid Asessment Procedures (RAP). Metode yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah wawancara mendalam.Hasil. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan siswa yang mendapat intervensi program berhenti merokok memiliki keyakinan diri yang lebih tinggi untuk dapat mengurangi konsumsi rokok atau berhenti merokok dengan mudah dibandingkan siswa yang tidak mendapat intervensi. Mereka yang mendapat intervensi juga menunjukkan penerimaan pesan paling baik. Hal ini terlihat dari perubahan niat, sikap, dan perilaku informan ke arah yang positif, berkaitan dengan perilaku merokok. Sementara itu, siswa yang tidak mendapat intervensi menunjukkan penolakan pesan akibat tidak dapat mengendalikan rasa takut. Hal ini tercermin dari perilaku siswa yang menghindari melihat PKB

    Distortion of women’s rights is a difficult problem to eliminate due to the patriarchal culture in society. This study aims to:(1) describe the forms of distortion of women’s rights in Nawal El-Saadawi’s Suquth Al-Imam based on Naomi Wolf’s perspective;(2) describe the form of resistance to the distortion of women’s rights in Nawal El-Saadawi’s Suquth Al-Imam based on Naomi Wolf’s perspective. This descriptive qualitative research takes the primary data source from the novel “Suquth Al-Imam” by Nawal El-Saadawi. After the data are collected from reading and note-taking techniques, the data are validated by increasing persistence, triangulation, and discussion. Then, the data analysis techniques include data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The results of this research are:(1) the forms of distortion of women’s rights in this novel are the right to take part in government organizations, the rights in education and teaching, the rights in the fields of profession and employment, the rights in carrying out legal actions, and the rights in marital relations;(2) the forms of resistance to the distortion of women’s rights in the novel are independence, altruism, persistence, chauvinism, and revolutionaries

    Laparoscopy in management of appendicitis in high-, middle-, and low-income countries: a multicenter, prospective, cohort study.

    BACKGROUND: Appendicitis is the most common abdominal surgical emergency worldwide. Differences between high- and low-income settings in the availability of laparoscopic appendectomy, alternative management choices, and outcomes are poorly described. The aim was to identify variation in surgical management and outcomes of appendicitis within low-, middle-, and high-Human Development Index (HDI) countries worldwide. METHODS: This is a multicenter, international prospective cohort study. Consecutive sampling of patients undergoing emergency appendectomy over 6 months was conducted. Follow-up lasted 30 days. RESULTS: 4546 patients from 52 countries underwent appendectomy (2499 high-, 1540 middle-, and 507 low-HDI groups). Surgical site infection (SSI) rates were higher in low-HDI (OR 2.57, 95% CI 1.33-4.99, p = 0.005) but not middle-HDI countries (OR 1.38, 95% CI 0.76-2.52, p = 0.291), compared with high-HDI countries after adjustment. A laparoscopic approach was common in high-HDI countries (1693/2499, 67.7%), but infrequent in low-HDI (41/507, 8.1%) and middle-HDI (132/1540, 8.6%) groups. After accounting for case-mix, laparoscopy was still associated with fewer overall complications (OR 0.55, 95% CI 0.42-0.71, p < 0.001) and SSIs (OR 0.22, 95% CI 0.14-0.33, p < 0.001). In propensity-score matched groups within low-/middle-HDI countries, laparoscopy was still associated with fewer overall complications (OR 0.23 95% CI 0.11-0.44) and SSI (OR 0.21 95% CI 0.09-0.45). CONCLUSION: A laparoscopic approach is associated with better outcomes and availability appears to differ by country HDI. Despite the profound clinical, operational, and financial barriers to its widespread introduction, laparoscopy could significantly improve outcomes for patients in low-resource environments.
